“My Living Testimony of the Book of Mormon” by: Bill Wilhite

For as long as I can remember I have known that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. As I read it and heard others tell the stories within it, it has always stirred my soul. Consequently, I have wanted to talk about it and tell others about it all of my life. It was inspiring to me when I heard missionaries and returned missionaries tell of the conversion of people who had read it. I so wanted to have those experiences.

What I mean by “my living testimony” is my desire and obligation to tell others about it and hopefully get them to read and pray about its truthfulness. So I wanted to go on a mission to tell others about the power of the book. I was fortunate enough to be sent to a mission president who believed that the Book of Mormon was our greatest tool of conversion. So when knocking on doors, our first approach was to tell them the story of Lehi coming to America and to sell them, for a mere .50 cents, a copy of the Book of Mormon. Our President believed that if you buy something you will more likely value it. Our goal was to place a case of these books each month, we often succeeded.

With that background I have looked for opportunities to tell others of that great book whenever I could. Callings have come to me over the years that have made it possible to offer a Book Mormon to many many people. With every book I have also witnessed either in writing or verbally the power and blessing it can bring into your life if you prayerfully seek its truth.

I you haven’t read it, you gotta read it, it will be one of your greatest blessings ever because Jesus Christ is everywhere in it. He wants you to read it. This I know.

  1. Don t really follow you here Zachary we don t live in Utah (most of their friends won t be LDS growing up is what I mean) and my kids are very young So chances are they won t have to deal with the mess that my wife and I had to deal with when faced with all the let s say NOT so faith promoting aspects of Mormon history. I will teach them honesty and integrity above all else then they can choose the path to follow as adults but we will not teach them things that, as parents, we can t square in our own minds as truth simple as that.
