“The Book of Mormon Brought Me Closer to Christ–El Libro de Mormón me acercó a Jesucristo” by: Dave Trottier

The Book of Mormon is a gift from God and was translated by the gift of God. I wish to share my testimony of the truthfulness of that statement and of that book.  When I was a ninth grader, a teacher challenged me to read the Book of Mormon, and so I did. I recall feeling something special in my heart as I did so. I later understood that the subtle “special feeling” I felt was the Holy Spirit testifying that what I was reading was of God. Since then, the truths of that book have always been uplifting to me as a source of spiritual strength and as a gateway to the grace and reality of Jesus Christ. My childhood was not ideal and I was much troubled in mind during my high school years; the Book of Mormon kept me from falling into seemingly inconsequential but harmful traps. In fact, the spirit of that book was a factor in choosing to become a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe it will help anyone draw closer to the light of the Lord Jesus Christ. It confirms the truths in the Holy Bible, and yet invites one deeper into true doctrine. To you who are reading this, may God lead you in paths that will bless you and bring you peace.    

El Libro de Mormónes un regalo de Dios y fue traducido por el regalo de Dios. Deseo compartir mi testimonio de la veracidad de esa declaración y de ese libro. Cuando estaba en noveno grado, un maestro me desafió a leer el Libro de Mormón, y así lo hice. Recuerdo sentir algo especial en mi corazón mientras lo hacía. Más tarde entendí que el sutil “sentimiento especial” que sentía era el Espíritu Santo que testificaba que lo que estaba leyendo era de Dios. Desde entonces, las verdades de ese libro siempre me han alzado como fuente de fortaleza espiritual y como puerta de entrada a la gracia y la realidad de Jesucristo. Mi infancia no fue ideal y tuve muchos problemas en mente durante mis años de escuela secundaria; El Libro de Mormón me impidió caer en trampas aparentemente intrascendentes pero dañinas. De hecho, el espíritu de ese libro fue un factor en la elección de convertirse en misionero de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días. Creo que ayudará a cualquiera a acercarse a la luz del Señor Jesucristo. Confirma las verdades en la Santa Biblia y, sin embargo, invita a profundizar en la verdadera doctrina.
